Reflection: Halfway check-in

I am now past the halfway point of WP Credits, so it is a good time to check how things are going.

What I have accomplished

When I chose the Polyglots team, my goal was to reach 300 translation contributions into Spanish (Costa Rica). So far I have suggested around 700 strings on translate.wordpress.org, and 175 of my translations have already been approved. I also earned my first badge on my WordPress.org profile: Translation Contributor.

Obstacles and how I handled them

The main challenge has been keeping my translations consistent. Some words can be translated in more than one way, so I had to go back to the glossary and the style guide often. Another challenge is that suggestions need to wait for an editor to review them, so not all of my work shows as approved right away. Balancing this with work and my last term at university has also been hard, so I try to set aside a few hours every week just for translating.

What is still ahead

Before wrap-up, I want to keep translating, follow up on the suggestions that are still waiting for review, and learn from the feedback I get. I would also like to understand better how the review process works, so my next translations need fewer corrections.
